About Corn States

Corn States is Monsanto’s U.S. seeds and traits licensing division – we broadly license germplasm and trait technologies and sell seed treatments to independent seed companies across the country.

For over 70 years providing the most advanced genetics, traits and seed treatments has been the foundation of Corn States' and our Seed Partners’ success, and we take our job seriously. We back our seed technologies with a deep understanding of our customers’ operations and a comprehensive offering of business solutions to help independent seed companies achieve their goals.

More than 150 seed companies offer Corn States genetics, traits and/or seed treatments in their brands, granting farmers access to leading seed technologies in the brands they want to plant on their farms. These products are licensed in:

  • Corn
  • Soybeans
  • Alfalfa
  • Cotton
  • Canola
  • Sorghum
  • Sugarbeets

Corn States has been a part of Monsanto since 1997, but our history goes back to the start of Holden’s Foundation Seeds in 1937 and Corn States Hybrid Service in 1943. Learn more about Corn States’ history.
